Meet Your Arborist
Matthew︱Austin, TX
I stumbled into the the tree care industry in 2017 after completing my undergrad at Belmont University in Nashville,TN. Not long after graduation I moved to Colorado to work as a snowboard instructor at Beaver Creek Ski Resort. What I anticipated to be a winter job turned into a career in the tree care industry. Once the snow melted I decided to stick around for the summer and landed a job as a brush hauler with the local tree care company. There I learned the fundamentals of proper tree trimming/removal, stump grinding & was personally proving treatments/air spading by the time I moved back home to Fort Worth, TX. I continued working in the industry in my hometown until I was hired as an Arborist/Sales Consultant here in Austin, TX early 2021. February Winter Storm "Uri" caused severe damage across the state and provided a unique learning experience for Texas arboriculture. Tree Service & Consulting LLC is an accumulation of my experience, knowledge & passion for the industry.

I discovered my passion for tree care back in 2020 shortly after the pandemic while I was working in retail and got tired of being stuck under the same roof for 40+ hours a week. Fast forward to a year later I had gained experience hauling brush and supervising tree care operations. I thoroughly enjoy being outside and having to freedom to do residential consulting across San Antonio and all of the surrounding area. Every day I have the opportunity to meet new clients and experience new properties in a broad array of locations. I've studied tree biology, soil science, tree selection & planting, urban forestry, disease management, climbing and rigging operations, and tree worker safety. I became an ISA Certified Arborist back in February of 2024 and was happy to gain that credential and effectively separate myself from a plethora of "tree guys." My passion is to preserve and protect my clients' landscape assets and remove any potential hazards to life or property. In my experience, trees can be large and difficult to work on without the knowledge, experience, and proper equipment to safely do so. Any tree saved and any tragedy avoided is a blessing.
